Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking Full Time Technician I for New Jersey State Prison, located in Trenton., NJ. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison.

Among the duties for the position are:

  • Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
  • Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood.
  • Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
  • Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms.
  • Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.

  • Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification required.
  • At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position
  • CPR Certification
  • Valid Driver’s License and must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.

As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes.
